A Message from Mrs. Singletary

4/24/26
Can you believe we are coming upon the final school week of April 2026? This week we did a school-wide coin drive to support non profit Josie’s Misfit Ranch. It was fun to see how excited our students were to donate their coins to serve others. This past Wednesday we hosted events for grades 1-3 highlighting their writing. The student work was amazing & our families did a wonderful job of celebrating all of our MSE eagle writers. Have a great weekend! -

Snacks

We’ve recently noticed an increase in students bringing highly processed snack foods—such as spicy chips like Takis—for breakfast or classroom snacks. While these items may be popular, they are not the best choice to support students’ health, focus, and learning.   The intense spices can also be harsh on young digestive systems and may cause discomfort during the school day.

Please also remember that our school provides a free healthy, balanced breakfast for all students each morning. This is a great option to ensure children start their day with the nutrition they need to learn and feel their best.

Thank you for your support in helping your child make choices that promote their well-being and success at school.

Safety Protocol for Early Arrivals

IMPORTANT REMINDER
As part of our ongoing commitment to student safety, the MSE Safety Committee needs your support. We need to remind families that we are unable to provide supervision before 8:45 a.m. each day and thus cannot guarantee the safety of any child who is dropped off prior to that time.
To ensure all students are safe and are properly supervised, please plan for your child to arrive no earlier than 8:45 a.m. Your student(s) MUST remain in your supervision until that time.
MSE Early Arrival Safety Procedure in Brief:
If you arrive at school prior to 8:45 am:
Park your vehicle a designated parking spot
You and your child(ren) must remain in your car until the supervision period officially begins at 8:45.
DO NOT drop off your students unattended before 8:45.
We require, and greatly appreciate your support and cooperation in adhering to our MSE Safety Procedure. Together, we can ensure all students are safe and secure.
Working to keep everyone safe!

Lost and Found

Hello Parents/Guardians,
Our Lost and Found collection is overflowing!
Please take a moment to check with your student to see if they are missing any coats, lunchboxes, water bottles, or other belongings.
A Friendly Reminder:
  • Labeling Helps! We are finding that many of the lost items that have been labeled with a student's name are much easier for us to return directly to the owner. This saves us time and ensures your child gets their property back promptly.

Drop off and Pick up

To ensure a safe and smooth drop-off and pick-up experience for everyone, please make note of the following parking updates:
  • South Parking Lot: This lot is reserved for Staff Only. Please use the designated visitor or parent lots for drop-off and parking.
  • Accessible (Handicap) Parking: Please be respectful of our community members who require accessible parking. Do not park or idle in marked handicap spaces unless you have a valid permit or placard visible.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep our parking lots safe and accessible for everyone!

End of Day Change of Plans

Please Parent Square or email the office by 3:00 PM if your student has a change of plans for the end of the day. We have many activities happening during this time, and having the change in writing helps ensure we get the message to your child correctly. Thank you!

Birthday Treats or Snacks for the Class

If you plan to send in birthday treats for your child's class, or snacks, please make sure they are bite-sized and meet our district wellness policy.
As outlined in District Policy 6700P:
  • all foods brought for celebrations must meet or exceed the USDA Smart Snacks in School nutrition standards.
  • The district provides healthy party ideas and non-food celebration options.
Thank you for helping us celebrate in a way that keeps all students safe and healthy.
  • We also have space available if snack items need refrigerated.
